As I return from the North Dakota State Knights of Columbus Convention, I am impressed with the amazing things that the ND KC’s do all over the state. I am also humbled to be the leader of a council that was so honored and recognized at this years event. Our Knight of the Year, Karl Nesler, was also awarded the ND State Knight of the Year at this event. I was so proud to be a member of Council #6570 that night! As we look ahead, I hope that we are able to fill the whole roster of officers for next year. It is an amazingly rewarding experience, to serve the council this way. Please think about taking on one of these positions, you wont regret it!
Vivat Jesus!

Grand Knight

Thank You to all of those Brother Knights who helped with this project. And a huge thank you to project chairman, Steve Motschenbacher, who brought this project to a new level. I am certain that next years breakfasts will have even better attendance, based on the consistent quality that you provided this year! Next year we will have a new chairman, Joe Jordahl, who showed his love of this project with the talent and care he brought to our Lenten Dinners! He is a great example of using your individual talents for the betterment of the council, and the parish.

At the May meeting a slate of officers for the 2008-09 fraternal year will be presented. At the time of this printing we still have some positions to fill, so when the committee calls you, please listen to their presentation. If we are able to fill the entire roster with Brother Knights willing to be a little bit active, no one will have to do too much. “Many hands make light work”. Please attend this meeting so you can be involved in the choosing of our leadership. The Slate will be presented at this meeting so it can be voted on in June.

At the State Convention in Devils Lake Last week the Delegates voted to increase the Per Capita Tax to the State by $2. This is the portion of your dues that is sent to the State Council so that it can operate and support the local councils. There will be a discussion of the potential of increasing our annual dues to cover this increase. This discussion was due anyway, as our local council is having difficulty making ends meet at our current dues level. We will be presenting this at this meeting, so that we can vote on it at the June meeting, which will allow this to be implemented (or not) this year.

What could be a more enjoyable way to show your pro-life pride than GOLF? That’s right; the Nativity Knights of Columbus have partnered with First Choice Clinic in supporting First Choice Clinic’s Annual Golf Marathon Fundraiser Golf ‘Fore’ Life at Rose Creek Golf Course on Tuesday, June 3rd. First Choice is a non-profit organization that offers caring and confidential services for women facing an unexpected pregnancy. Services include pregnancy testing, ultrasounds, parenting and adoption education, referrals and resources. All services are provided free of charge thanks to the fundraising efforts of this amazing organization and the caring pro-life donors who support it. First Choice makes a difference in the lives of the women it serves and the lives of the babies it saves. This is your chance to make a difference! Dust off the golf clubs, pack the sun screen, and sign up today to participate in Golf ‘Fore’ Life. Not a golfer? Your involvement is needed, too! If you, your spouse, or anyone you know would be interested in participating in this fun and worthwhile event contact Paul Kochmann 588-4478, or Karl Nesler 293-8160. An organizational meeting in early May will provide participants with additional information regarding this special event.

This year we will be having our annual calendar raffle during the month of June. You should be receiving your tickets to sell very soon, if you haven’t received them already. Please sell these tickets, as a portion of the proceeds will be used to support our youth groups on their mission trip to Peru. This is a important fund raiser for our Parish and our Council.

We ordered a new shirt for the council this year. Those with email communication were able to pre-order. The shirts are in, and you can get your pre-order, or just come and get one at the business meeting this month. The shirts are Black Long Sleeved dress shirts, with the logo and council # embroidered on the left breast. They cost $30 each, so contact Financial Secretary Steve Motschenbacher (429-1293) to reserve one before they are all gone!
